Chapter One: Carnage:

War is an ugly thing. It has been stated before. Nothing anyone can say will change that. So, why do we still have war? Are human beings smart enough to realize that it just doesn’t work? Can’t they just throw up their hands up give up? According to the Greek islands, apparently not. The only one who gets it is Creila. Its people stay out of this crazy war and try to live their lives in the eye of the warring islands around them.

Kasumi is a drifter. She was from a rich family. But her parents died when she was seven. Kasumi then lived with her warlord uncle. Due to the fact she was a girl, her uncle didn't teach her martial arts. Ken, her uncle, didn't believe that women should fight and just take care of the house. Craving to learn how to fight, Kasumi turned to Seita for help. He agreed and did so. Then one night, Seita killed Ken and stole the family's sword. Kasumi found herself alone again. Now she lives and travels with Ryuji and Haruko.

Karasu watched them leave their neighborhood through the water. A fire flickered up in his eyes. Those that say that he has no emotion would be dead wrong until they looked deep into those coal-colored eyes.

"She moves again," he said to himself. Time to hunt her again. But, she's not alone in this round. Yes, she had picked up two companions. Children to be frank. That's so unlike you Kasumi-chan, he thought of his sake. I thought you wanted to be alone. He knew because he made her that way.

A misty fog rolled over the neighborhood this morning. Perfect time to slip away. Kasumi quietly packed up her things and crept out of her bedroom door. In the hallway, she looked into the rooms of her hosts. Ryuji and Haruko looked sound asleep in their beds. She gave them each a calm smile.

"Thank you guys," the woman whispered. "You were so kind to me. I just can't have you getting mixed up with my mission. Goodbye." Then, Kasumi quietly walked down the hall and left the house.

Training ended at five in the evening. Ryuji, Haruko, and Kasumi all headed home. Life in the neighborhood had settled down for the evening. The setting sun added a warm glow to the atmosphere. Kasumi couldn't help but to feel a sense of belonging in this town. But yet, she knew she couldn't stay long. He might come back for her. The woman shuddered to herself at the thought of dragging these nice kids into her headache.

No! I can't let him do that!, she thought. I just can't! No!

"Something wrong?" someone asked her. Kasumi looked up to see Ryuji looking her right in the face. He looked at her with a serious look on his face.
