Chapter Five: Gates of Hell:
The demonic followed Ann around for the rest of the day. Nobody saw her, of course. Ann had to pretend the same as well. It was kind of hard not to look over her shoulder and see those soulless eyes staring back at her. The child not speaking only made things worse for her. Ann glanced at her again as she waited to pick up her lunch at the ramen booth. The little girl floated behind her, quiet.
Come on!, the woman thought. Say something, damn it! But, Ann knew what she had to do. This was the cargo that had to be delivered to Zoshigaya Cemetery by midnight. Deliver a child to a cemetery at midnight. That sentence didn't really end well. But yet, she felt like she had to do this. Ann glanced back at the child as she waited to catch the train home. That kid still didn't speak. The Goth woman swallowed and tried to stomach more of the silence.
I need my medication again, she thought. Ann reached into her purse for her meds. She pulled out the bottle and began to open it. A small hand rested upon hers. Ann's eyes looked behind her. Yet, there was nobody there. She looked around her with the pills still in her hand. Her eyes moved back down to the white tablets between the bottle and her palm. Now they didn't want her on her meds during this quest? Ann glanced behind her again. Her little "friend" still floated behind her. The Goth woman turned her eyes back to the rail. Somehow, she felt that her suspicions were right about the drugs. Ann closed up the bottle and slid it back into her purse.
