Chapter Three: Island Festival:
I had never seen so my paper lanterns in my life. The sounds of traditional Japanese music filled my ears. The people at the harbor looked like they were preparing for a party of some kind. I looked up at my hosts.
"What are they doing today?" I asked. Noiz gave me a rich smile.
"They are getting ready for the festival today," she said. I gave her an odd look.

The Jetty:
"Brianna!" Noiz greeted me. "How have you been?" She walked over and threw her arms around me.
"Fine," I answered. "I'm fine." She let go of me to stare at me. I raised an eyebrow at her.
"What?" I asked. Noiz put her hand over my head.

I really should be home in DC now! I'm in a foreign country here! I'm not even spending summer on the main island! My cousin, Noizchild Johnson, her boyfriend, and I are going to a small island off of Honshu called Aka-Usagi! I was told at the airport to head straight to the cruise dock. Brilliant! Just brilliant! I'm in a foreign country, can't speak Japanese, and I don't know where on Earth I am. Well, could be worse. I could be at my grandmother's all summer long! I shuddered at the thought of spending long hot hours on the farm. I would die out there! I would also die without electronics out there! They are my bloodline! My grandmother listens in the middle of nowhere too. That would drive me insane. I would have to people to talk to at all times! I am failing to understand how my grandmother can enjoy living out in the middle of nowhere with no one to talk to year after year. I couldn't do it! I would die first! The country is no life for me! Plus, I'm too delicate to work out in hot sun. I would break too easily in the heat picking vegetables for no payment at all! That would be so wrong! Thus, me being here in the Honshu boat dock station waiting for my cousin and her boyfriend. What a drag!

Summary:
Tired of life in Tokyo, Miho runs away and ventures along the sea through Asia. Along the way, she meets Aoi and picks her up for company. We made it to the Anna Miller. Despite the stop, I still didn’t let go of Sappoto-san’s arm. (I still didn’t think she would stay put if I did. But then again, she never wandered off in strange places. So innocent like a little child. That’s what childhood damage can do to you.) I looked through the glass doors as I caught my breath.
“See him yet?” I asked my traveling buddy.
“No,” she said.

“It’s okay,” I whispered under my breath in Japanese. “Nothing going to happen to us.” She didn’t seem to believe me at all. I smiled at her softly.
“He’s a nice man,” I whispered. “Look, I’ll show you.” I turned to our marine friend.

After a day at sea, I finally spotted land through the telescope. My heart raced at the view. (Even though it had been a day, I was ready for my feet to touch the shore once more.)
“Sappoto-san, look!” I turned behind me, yelling. My friend slowly dragged her lazy behind out of bed.

I was the one steered the boat. (Sappoto doesn’t know how to! I don’t even think she’s even *been* on a boat before!) My travel buddy kept going back and forth on the boat looking around like a hyped-up little puppy. I could have sworn I saw her tongue sticking out as she was panting. I watched her from the rear mirror above my head. I couldn’t help but to smile to myself as I steered. She reminds me of Andi at the moment.
“Wow!!!” Sappoto said at one point. “We’re actually on the water in a boat!” I couldn’t help but to laugh at the woman. She looked up at me slightly out of her little spell.
“What?” she asked me, all doe-eyed.

Sappoto and I came to the dock on time. Perfect, nobody around. I turned to my new buddy.
"Stay here while I get the boat, okay?" I told her.
"Okay, Miho-chan," she replied. I walked over to the booth. I looked inside of the thin dark glass. It still looked pretty dark inside. I noticed the man hiding in the back with his Cream magazine. I rolled my eyes. Pervert! I thought. I knocked on the thin glass. The man looked up from his magazine. He pulled his chair close to the window. Damn, he really needs to get to a gym! This man also seems to have adopted the American style of dress too well. Dark green trucker hat, flannel checkered shirt, and a glowing hot cigarette hanging out of his mouth. This guy looked like he just woke up and needed a bath. He gave me the illusion that I could smell him through the glass.

Looks like a clean escape for today. I couldnt celebrate now. I had to keep going. I forced myself to keep on. The warm summer air pushed me to go on faster and faster. Escape time was calling my name. I had no choice but to go to it. I clutched my backpack tightly to my back. I walked faster and faster to the ocean port. Here it is! My ticket to freedom. Nothing is here to stop me at all! I just need to make it all the way to
A sudden shuffle stopped me cold in my tracks. I froze up annoyed. Damn it! Whos following me this early in the morning? I thought Andi had gotten up, saw the note, and followed after to stop me. I sighed aloud annoyed.
