Chapter Five: Gates of Hell:

The demonic followed Ann around for the rest of the day. Nobody saw her, of course. Ann had to pretend the same as well. It was kind of hard not to look over her shoulder and see those soulless eyes staring back at her. The child not speaking only made things worse for her. Ann glanced at her again as she waited to pick up her lunch at the ramen booth. The little girl floated behind her, quiet.

Come on!, the woman thought. Say something, damn it! But, Ann knew what she had to do. This was the cargo that had to be delivered to Zoshigaya Cemetery by midnight. Deliver a child to a cemetery at midnight. That sentence didn't really end well. But yet, she felt like she had to do this. Ann glanced back at the child as she waited to catch the train home. That kid still didn't speak. The Goth woman swallowed and tried to stomach more of the silence.

I need my medication again, she thought. Ann reached into her purse for her meds. She pulled out the bottle and began to open it. A small hand rested upon hers. Ann's eyes looked behind her. Yet, there was nobody there. She looked around her with the pills still in her hand. Her eyes moved back down to the white tablets between the bottle and her palm. Now they didn't want her on her meds during this quest? Ann glanced behind her again. Her little "friend" still floated behind her. The Goth woman turned her eyes back to the rail. Somehow, she felt that her suspicions were right about the drugs. Ann closed up the bottle and slid it back into her purse.

Chapter Three: Devil and God:

Two men sat on Ann's bed, talking to each other. The man on the right twirled his long white beard. The man on the left was dressed in black and had his eyes narrowed at him.

"You sure this will work?" he asked. The bearded man in white nodded.

"Of course," he said. "No one will suspect her. She's perfect."

"How can you be sure that she'll be willing to do this?"

"We'll just ask her."

The man in black gave him a strange look. "Huh?"

The man in white grinned. "We can ask her right now."

The man in black glanced to his right. "Oh yes we can." Both men turned to Ann. She froze when their eyes met hers. The man in white smiled at her.

Chapter Two: Injured Stranger:

Ann made sure to walk under the streetlights on her way back to her apartment. She couldn't see them as long as she was under the light. Yet, she couldn't get away from their voices. She knew they could still see her in the light. They had been getting strong enough to do that. The woman stopped and shook her head.

Just get home, she thought. Get back and sleep. She took a couple more breaths. I can do this, Ann thought. She hurried all the way back to her apartment. She ignored the snow falling in her hair. The woman finally reached her front door. Her fingertips almost reached the cold metal when she felt something heavy at her feet. Her eyes moved downwards. A girl in black lied before on the doorstep. She looked as if she had been beaten—lower lip cut, face all bruised up, red handprints on her throat, blood mixed in with her dark hair. Ann backed up with her hand over her mouth.

December 7th, 2074.

Neko Mimi café drowned in the Christmas spirit this evening. The maids all looked like Santa's flirty elves in their costumes. Their songs made Ann tremble as she stared down into her spiced rum in her mug. She reached into her purse and looked at her phone. 10:04 p.m. She gripped her phone with all of her might.

Come on!, the woman screamed in her mind. Where are you?! You said that you would be here by ten. You would've called if you would be running late. Please hurry and get here! I'm at my wit's end! She looked up when she heard the bell on the door clang. Noiz looked around the café as the door closed behind her. Relief washed over Ann's face.
