-Arisu-

As I stand attested to what I have learned, I cannot unsee what has been poured into me. What started out as an easy final project for my journalism grade in university became a sea of scandal that I wasn’t prepared for. If I had known that my sanity and life would be at stake, I would’ve taken a lower grade and graduated.

My name is Alcloud Namie. I am a ninety-seven-year-old vampire. My older sister, Rachel, vanished in 1920. She was eighteen and I was seven. To explain myself better, I have to tell you who Rachel is first.

We had the same father, but two different mothers. Our father… was a man-whore. Kind man, but a slut. He loved his wives and daughters dearly. Yes, I said that right. Wives. Our father committed bigamy. He married Rachel’s mother first. Interesting story there too.

Gakt

Love is Just a Bloodsport:

Seventeen year old Meri McKenzie met Gakt on the first day of school. It was as if he had taken a pistol and shot her in her pretty chest. Gakt was a pretty boy. Dark black hair, cold jet black eyes, very pale, short black-painted nails, and black eyeliner. He wore all black with chains. Many girls were attracted to him.

But yet, Gakt went through relationships pretty quickly. He never really held onto a girlfriend for too long. All of the people of Okinawa knew why. Gakt was a sick twisted individual. Some thought he was a demon. He himself called himself the devil. However, the girls found it very difficult to avoid him like the plague. Meri was no exception to the rule.

Meri was the perfect victim for Gakt from the beginning. For starts, she was the new girl in Okinawa. Gakt loved to prey on fresh meat. “The new lambs are always the best,” he would say. Second, Meri was pretty innocent. She was the good girl in her family. She was your typical American girl. Straight A student, academically smart, and got along with everyone. Meri was a very shy girl. She was a sweet little mommy’s girl. Also, Meri was a pretty girl. She had long golden blonde hair, rose wine colored eyes, tall, slender, and very clean-looking. All of this made her the perfect target for Gakt’s cruel ways.

Chapter Five: Gates of Hell:

The demonic followed Ann around for the rest of the day. Nobody saw her, of course. Ann had to pretend the same as well. It was kind of hard not to look over her shoulder and see those soulless eyes staring back at her. The child not speaking only made things worse for her. Ann glanced at her again as she waited to pick up her lunch at the ramen booth. The little girl floated behind her, quiet.

Come on!, the woman thought. Say something, damn it! But, Ann knew what she had to do. This was the cargo that had to be delivered to Zoshigaya Cemetery by midnight. Deliver a child to a cemetery at midnight. That sentence didn't really end well. But yet, she felt like she had to do this. Ann glanced back at the child as she waited to catch the train home. That kid still didn't speak. The Goth woman swallowed and tried to stomach more of the silence.

I need my medication again, she thought. Ann reached into her purse for her meds. She pulled out the bottle and began to open it. A small hand rested upon hers. Ann's eyes looked behind her. Yet, there was nobody there. She looked around her with the pills still in her hand. Her eyes moved back down to the white tablets between the bottle and her palm. Now they didn't want her on her meds during this quest? Ann glanced behind her again. Her little "friend" still floated behind her. The Goth woman turned her eyes back to the rail. Somehow, she felt that her suspicions were right about the drugs. Ann closed up the bottle and slid it back into her purse.

There was once a tent of purity. She played out her peaceful life with love, light, peace, and happiness. To be in harmony with the white was enough. She was happy with her normal life and innocence.

But one day, the wolves moved in. They destroyed her mind and soul. The wolves plundered and ate her innocence. Her reputation was torn to shreds. The tent was stained black and ripped open violently. Everything was stolen and damaged. All that was left was darkness and isolation. The tore bits of the tents flapped wildly around in the wind. All because of one small mistake. A mistake easily made by young innocent girls everywhere. A mistake made by flowers who were closed in most of their lives. A mistake that was unforgivable. Not to anybody. Not even to herself.

Devil in a Blue Dress
I: Violet Rays

Pandora walked around the Factory for a little while. She felt like Alice in Wonderland. Andy had been the rabbit. Jamaica and Savannah were the Cheshire cat. Who would Alice run into next?

That came with a scent of heavy smoke. Pandora thought that she would choke to death. (Sure, everyone smoked in England, but not this bad!) The poor soul became dizzy and stumbled into a random room. In time, Pandora’s vision returned. She looked as if she had walked into a time machine. 60’s memorabilia all over the place. Black light posters on the wall. Jimi Hendrix ruled the room. The same smoke floated around in the room, only much lighter.

Pandora looked above her. Love beads hung from the ceiling.

“Wow,” was all she could say.

“It’s my element,” a woman’s voice told her. Pandora looked up right away. A woman sat on the floor smoking. Purple invaded the woman. Her long dark purple hair served as a cape. The lilac highlights in her hair brightened her up some. She looked really pale all over. Her skinny fingers clutched the cigarette tightly. Pandora looked her up and down.

Chapter Four: Doctor and Patient:

-Cassie-

I found myself floating over my body in the hospital bed. Dr. Stonem sat by my side. Instinct screamed at me to fight, but my heart held me back. I still haven’t gotten over my feelings for him. I don’t think I ever will. That is why I have to fight him just to end everything between us. Suddenly, I paused. I noticed him looking up in my direction. Can he even see me? I shook my head to myself. Of course he could, what kind of a question is that? This man couldn’t really feel emotion and there had been rumors in England that he could talk to God and the Devil. I waved my arm at him. That doctor gave me a twisted grin as he patted a space next to him on my bed. I shuddered at his invitation. That smile of his doesn’t help me at all. However, I found myself floating downwards to him. I sat down beside him. He still grinned at me.

Chapter Three: Small Town Witch:

The little girl didn’t answer me with words. The little rabbit hopped over to her feet. She reached out and touched my throat.

I have been expecting you, she said in my head. My eyes stayed on that child.

“Are you Megan?” I asked again. The girl nodded at me. I sat back in shock. Her fingers stayed on my throat.

You don’t have long to stay here, she told me.

“So, how do I get out?” I asked. “I’m supposed to hear your story and bring you home. How am I supposed to do that?”

You have to get out of here first, Megan told me. I’ll show you out. Take my hand! I began reaching forward to that tiny powdered white hand. Megan grabbed onto my hand in response and began running out of the maze. I could only run to keep up h with her.

We came to a sea of blank gray. I gasped aloud at the sudden change in pressure around my lungs.

“It hurts,” I murmured.

“You’ll be fine in a few moments,” Megan spoke to me in words. I looked up at the sound of her voice.

“How come you can talk now?” I asked.

“The space in the maze locked my voice,” the little girl told me.

“I see,” I replied. “So, what were you doing in that maze?”

“I am imprisoned between the living and the dead,” she said. I looked at her.

“So… you’re a ghost?” I asked. Megan nodded at me once.

“That’s right,” she replied. I looked at her, now intrigued.

“So, how did you die?” I asked.

“I’m trying to figure out that myself,” Megan replied.

“What?” I asked.

“I can’t remember much before my soul was ripped out of my body all of those years ago,” the child told me. “All I remember was waking up in this space with the only place that I could go was that maze.” I remembered what I was to do.

“Hey,” I said. “I could help you out.” Megan looked at me with big eyes.

“You would?” she asked. I nodded at her.

“Just tell me what I need to do,” I said. The little girl still looked at me with surprise all over her face.

“You promise?” she asked. I nodded at her.

“I will give it my best,” I told her. I held out my hand for her to shake it on my word. Megan slowly reached out at first to response. She paused, but then shook my hand.

I will help you out of here, she said in my mind. A shimmering, cold light flooded from her hand into my body at those words.

-Outside-

Big Mama and Hanako made it to the hospital before the morning was over. Big Mama raced up to the front desk.

“Miss!” she said breathlessly at the lady at the front desk. “Excuse me, miss!” The receptionist held up her hands to try and quiet her down.

“Miss,” she said. “Please don’t yell.” Big mama took a moment to catch her breath.

“I’m here for the patient that got hit by that car last night,” she said. The other lady looked at the chart of all of the patients there were admitted this morning. She didn’t even glance up.

“Cassandra Campbell?” the receptionist asked.

“Yes!” Hanako yelped. “Can we please see her?!?” The receptionist shushed the girl.

“She’s still in surgery right now,” she replied.

“When can we see here?” Big Mama asked.

“Are you family?” the other woman asked.

“Yes!” Hanako yelled. The receptionist shushed the girl again.

“Please take a seat and wait,” she said. Big Mama and Hanako took a seat in the living room. The receptionist picked up the phone when it rang.

“Hello?” she asked. Hanako looked over at Big Mama.

“How long do we have to wait?” she asked. The old lady patted her on the head.

“I can’t say,” she replied. The young girl turned to the clock on the wall.

“Cassie-san…” she murmured. Big Mama gently held the child hand to comfort her.

Chapter Two: Casper Hospital:

The ambulance pulled up to the hospital in the early morning hours. The stretcher wheeled through the first doors. My body still wasn’t conscious by this point. I watched for the outside as I remembered what my savior told me in my head when he touched my hand.

Follow Megan through the maze. Listen to her story and bring her home.

Problem was, he only told me that much. He didn’t tell me who “Megan” was or where to find her through the “maze.” Still, I had to try. I owed him my life after all. That was, if I didn’t die first. No, I can’t die yet. I still have to avenge Blake. He would be so disappointed if he died for nothing. I clenched my fists at my side.

I will not die yet!, I thought. I will stay alive to kill that man.

“Is that right?” I heard someone ask. I opened my eyes and saw a pair of dull blue eyes staring back at me. My feet to a small step backwards.

“Dr. Stonem?” I asked. His face remained just as emotionless and beautiful as I last remembered it. I tried to not let my face show what my heart was feeling in that moment. My head and my heart are always at war with each other when I see him.

“Still the same as ever,” he said.

“What are you doing here?” I asked in a stern voice.

“I work here,” Dr. Stonem replied. I froze at that statement.

“What?” I asked. I turned and saw Dr. Stonem himself walking into the emergency room. He looked down at my body.

“Fill me in on what happened here,” he said.

“We have a twenty-eight-year-old female hit-and-run victim,” the nurse told him.

“Got it,” the doctor said. “Let’s get her on the table.” I looked at the bastard before me.

“You’re treating me?” I asked.

“Of course,” he replied. “I am a doctor after all.”

“But why?” I asked. “And don’t pull the “because I’m doctor card”. We know that that’s just a bunch of crap!”

“Cassie!” Dr. Stonem said. “I’m surprised at you. How could you doubt me like this?” I kept my eyes narrowed at him. The doctor shrugged at me.

“If you insist,” he said. “I refuse to let you die.” I folded my arms across my chest.

“And why is that?” I asked.

“You want to kill me, don’t you?”

“That’s right.”

“You want to kill me for your brother, right?”

“Why do you care?”

“Well then, you need to be alive to kill me, right?”

“What are you getting at?” I asked. Dr. Stonem gave me a quick smirk before returning his face to that stoic look of his.

“You are my toy and I have to keep you alive for my amusement,” was the only answer that he gave me. He turned and entered back to his mind. I wanted to scream out to him so much. It took all of my mind to recompose myself. I can’t really deal with him at the moment. I looked and watched the doctors go to work on my body. The whole operation, I could feel Dr. Stonem smirking in his head at me. He’s enjoying this. He wants to be the one in control over me. My helpless condition just makes it all the more perfect for him. All of this just fuels my desire to kill him even more.

I paused in my thoughts when I heard bells ringing in the distance. I slowly turned around.

*Outside*

Sunrise back at Big Mama’s house. Big Mama had just turned on the radio for the morning and started to make breakfast. Hanako ran her finger in small circles on the table’s surface. She looked up at the front door.

“Cassie-san’s lately coming home, isn’t she?” the little girl asked.

“She’ll be fine,” her mistress said as she cut up the meat on the cutting board. The little girl groaned aloud as she dropped her chin to the table.

“I can never understand her,” she whimpered.

“Just leave that woman be,” Big Mama replied. “She’s searching.”

“I wish that I could help her,” Hanako complained. Her mistress shook her head to herself.

“You can’t help her with this one,” she said.

“Why not?” the child asked.

“She has to find what she’s looking for on her own,” Big Mama said. Hanako sat there, pouting.

“I just wish that I could be of more use for her,” she mumbled to herself.

“Well, when she comes in for lunch, you can help me make it. How does that sound?” her mistress asked. Hanako quickly perked up.

“Yay!” she cheered. Suddenly, the news began on the TV.

“Top story today: victim of hit-and-run accident was brought to Casper Hospital early this morning,” the anchorman announced. “The victim has been identified as twenty-eight-year-old Cassie Campbell. There are no further details about how she got involved in the accident and police are still looking for the culprit.” Hanako turned to Big Mama with worry in her eyes.

“Mama?” she asked. The big lady’s knife fell to the floor with a clang. She rushed straight out of the kitchen. The little girl turned her head, lost.

“Mama?” she asked. “Mama, wait!” The little girl leapt up from the stool and raced after her mistress.

*Cassie*

A black rabbit stood just inches from me. I gave the little creature an odd look. What is this bunny doing in a place like this?, I thought. Suddenly, the rabbit turned and hopped away.

“Wait!” I yelled to it. “Come back here!” Like a little child, I raced after that stupid little rabbit. I ran all through the hospital until I came out into the garden.

“Now where did you go?” I asked. I paused when I heard bells ringing again. I looked up and saw a child with long black hair. Her bangs hid her face as she before me all in white. Her empty tan eyes under her hair looked like they cut down the strongest warrior in all of Japan. I looked at her and blinked.

“Are you… Megan?” I asked.

"Of course," he said. "No one will suspect her. She's perfect."

"We'll just ask her."

She knew they could still see her in the light. They had been getting strong enough to do that. The woman stopped and shook her head.

The woman finally reached her front door. Her fingertips almost reached the cold metal when she felt something heavy at her feet. Her eyes moved downwards. A girl in black lied before on the doorstep. She looked as if she had been beaten—lower lip cut, face all bruised up, red handprints on her throat, blood mixed in with her dark hair.
