Chapter Five: Isaac:

I studied upon to noon when my stomach started to growl. At first, I did my best to ignore it. No, I can’t eat until I’m finished. It’s not time to eat yet. I can hold out a little bit longer. I buried myself deeper in my books. Finally, I couldn’t take it anymore.

Alright, you win! I’ll go get something to eat. I set aside my study material and went downstairs to the kitchen. I peeked around for the whole trip in hopes of not running into any of them. Something is telling me not to stay here too long. But yet, I feel that somehow I don’t really have a choice. I don’t know my way around Hiroshima and I don’t have much money for a train ride back to Tokyo. I don’t even know how long nee-san is keeping me here. Why did she even bring me here to Hiroshima in the first place?

Chapter Three: Disorder House:

Hours later, someone shook me awake. I slowly opened my eyes and looked over to my right. Akemi stared at me smiling.

“Oh good morning, Sunshine,” she said. “Finally to decide to join the world of the living?” I blinked at her.

“How long was I asleep?” I asked.

Chapter One: You’re Beautiful:

My dear friend, Hitomi, died last week. Her mother found her body in the driver’s seat of the family car that Thursday morning. In fact, she was the one contacted me the next morning about her daughter’s death. It’s funny, really. Hitomi-chan and I haven’t spoken to each other since we graduated junior high. We ended up going to different high schools.

We never really kept in touch either. I heard different stories about her. I heard that she had a boyfriend from Tokyo many times. There were other stories sayin that she was having problems with bullying and depression. Some even said that she dropped out of high school and locked herself in her room. A few people said that they saw her rumoring the city streets at night. One rumor even said that Hitomi turned to dating for pay. I never tried to call her and see if any of it was true. I don’t know; it’s just that life and school got in the way for me.

Kimoto Daisuke and his sixteen-year-old daughter, Anna, were in for the night. The little trick-or-treaters outside began winding down. Most of the houses had already closed their blinds and turned off their lights. The night sky looked like it would give way to rain at any time now. Father and daughter hadn’t planned to do much for the night. She had just finished her homework and Daisuke still had some paperwork to do on his laptop. They had planned to take a bath and go to bed, but then fate took a cruel twist for them.
